You may think that the only things you’ll find on golf courses include the greens, sand traps, trees, and water, but think again. Throughout the world golf courses are springing up with new and unorthodox features that make your golf experience completely different.

If you really want to get in touch with your wild side while playing golf, trying hitting the links at the Hans Merensky Golf Course in South Africa. Because this golf course shares a border with the Kruger National Park, it is not uncommon to encounter elephants, impalas, giraffes, zebras, or waterbuck as you play. In Australia, you can find the Nullarbor Links, which is the longest golf course that offers 18 holes over a mind-blowing 800 miles of land. If you want to avoid the heat of Australia, play a game of ice golf atop moving ice that floats on an island in Northern Greenland. Some interesting games of golf offered in the U.S. include the North Star Golf Club in Fairbanks, Alaska. At this course you will find numerous wildlife including moose, snowshoe hares, coyotes, sandhill cranes, and marmots.

During the summer, when the sun shines almost all day in Alaska, the course stays open for 20 hours out of the day. In Lajitas, Texas you will find The Ultimate Hideout in Western Texas, where the course offers a special hole that consists of an irretrievable drive across the Rio Grande River into Mexico.
